Planning Board Meeting 9/21/2000

There were two issues before the board. The first, a local company in business in Preble since 1997 needed a site plan ok, which they got. I wondered about why they needed this after all these years. It was pointed out that Peter Knapp, supervisor/code enforcement officer at the time, gave them the ok to operate back in 1997. Curious isn't it. The second issue was a simple lot division. A lawyer from Shafer's office in Cortland represented the owners. This caused incorrect speculation that Flying J issues would be before the board. Other than that there wasn't much going on.

However...

I had hoped that Fran Casullo, Planning board and ZBA lawyer, would be there. At the 9/7/2000 ZBA meeting, Fran received a written response from Amanda Shaw (Flying J's lawyer) about the appeal coming up next Thursday. At that meeting I asked Fran for a copy of her response and Fran said he would send it to the town clerk. That has not been done and the response is not available to the public. I had a copy of my FOIL request that I planned to give to Fran at the meeting, but now I will mail the FOIL demand to Fran today and hope that we can get that information in time for the public hearing this coming Thursday. I wonder why our lawyer is keeping this information from us. Makes you wonder just who he is working for.

Fran Casullo has done some troubling things recently that I cannot talk about just yet. However, I hope to have that news available here this weekend or early next week.
