You're slipping. Follow the money you say. That usually shows some interesting information you say. Well in you're latest piece you forgot to . . . FOLLOW THE MONEY!

What committee did the Eligh's say Stoker served valiantly on??
The Transportation committee.

What was Mr. Elighs' business for a number of years??
He owned an aviation business at the Cortland County Airport.

What does the Transportation committee oversee??
The Airport.

Where are the Eligh's and Stoker from??
Scott.

How does a county committee negotiate contracts??
In executive session. (SECRET).

Could be a reason why the Elighs think highly of Stoker.

Where does Stoker Live?? Scott
What's his part-time job?? Preble Court Clerk
Who's the Preble Justice?? Marilyn Stoker
Who's the Scott Town Justice?? Bill Eligh.

I don't know if his wife has a part-time Job, but it sure would close the Loop.

In all fairness, I have always heard good things about Bill. But if a person had done good things for my spouse's business, and he always seemed nice when I met him at other political outings, I might (Subconsciously) want to come to his aid when I hear he's being "LIED ABOUT".

I think the Eligh's should have disclosed their connection to the Stokers. I know that the Stokers go on a lot of trips to Judge's conventions and the like with Preble paying the tab (for Marilyn's part). I guess that the Elighs might also, one of the perks of the job. Not telling the Cortland Standard and/or me about this very close connection between them is not good. I feel used.

In ordinary circumstances I would put a letter like this up without comment, but this case is different. I first received this letter from town clerk Jane Davenport as a photocopy of the letter to the editor in the Cortland Standard. I asked Jane to have the author send me the original because copyright laws prevent me from reproducing anything that is in the Cortland Standard. Between the time Jane first sent me the letter and I received this original letter we had a town board meeting on 11/12/01 and the following occurred...

As we were going to the hall to wait for executive session Max Stoker called me a liar to my back. "Tells lies and puts them on the Internet" were his exact words. I intended to discuss his comments with him but I was heading into the john when he made them and taking a wiz was and always will be more important to me that talking to Max Stoker. When I came out a few minutes later he was no longer in sight.

He's an old man with a heart condition, small in stature and mind. What could I do that would make a difference. The cowardly act of calling me a liar to my back coming from someone like him with no credibility doesn't deserve a response. He is so much smaller than me in so many ways that I decided to drop it. Stoker has his believers who trust and believe him no matter the evidence to the contrary. I have you, the reader who has the intelligence to look at the facts presented here and make up your own mind. It also proves to me that I am right when their only defense is to call me a liar. After all... what else can they do?

One thing that is remarkably odd to me is why he would want me to put this puff piece about him on this web site if he thinks everything on here is a lie. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

Keep in mind that Max Stoker did win his last election, not in Preble, but in Scott by a total margin of 12 votes. This letter is from that half of our community that has every right to like him. In a small attempt to be fair and present both sides I give you the following with no further comment.
