400 Protest
Flying J coming to Salina.
Flying J's Mike Miller shows what he is made of.
Frank Hogg 1/14/02 (Draft)
I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow
your house down...
Mike Miller, Flying J's 'Big Bad Wolf'
is pulling the same crap in Salina that he did here in Preble.
He threatened them with his 'deep pockets' line about endless
lawsuits. Didn't faze us here in little old Preble so I doubt
it will there. He is such a jerk, does he really think this
kind of crap works. Adolescent high school BS is all it is.
No wonder Flying J is not well liked. They could use an attitude
adjustment and getting rid of Miller would be a good first step.
Millers quote from the Post Standard. "Whoever
decides to fight ought to know that it will cost big money,
and Flying J has it." I've met and talked to Miller and he is
exactly what you think he is.

Who's
really holding up the Flying J project?

Preble ~
Just Suppose, a fictional story.
Quotes about Flying J in the Post Standard article...
The companies (Flying J) report says "half
of the trucks will be idling 90 percent of the time and the
rest 50 percent of the time in the winter and summer and 20
percent will idle all the time in spring and fall" (I seem to
recall Flying J saying something completely different here in
Preble. Perhaps the truck stop here would be different from
the one there. Yeah right.)
Nicholas Pirro, Onondaga County Executive
urged Salina officials to reject the proposed Flying J truck
stop. "I have grave concerns," he said "and I request that the
planning board deny the application for a special permit."
Also against the truck stop. Clay Supervisor
Patrick DiDomenico, Liverpool Mayor Marlene Ward and Liverpool
Police Chief Donald Morris.
Morris
said the plaza would require increased policing, pulling sheriff's
deputies and state police away from the village. He expects
more calls for 'assaults, fights and intoxicated drivers who
will frequent the 24-hour facility." He added that he feared
the potential for prostitution and drug use and sales, and
that the plaza would become a haven for runaways."
Cortland County officials said they couldn't
comment on the Preble Flying J because it was a 'local issue'.
Guess that the Onondaga County officials are a bit braver than
ours. Everyone that is surprised raise your hands.
Random factoid. John P Sidd, the lawyer
for Flying J in Salina works with Rick Shaffer who is/was the
lawyer for Flying J in Preble. No big deal right? WRONG! Sidd
is also the lawyer for the Cortland Farmland Protection corporation,
the Slowy/Hartsock gang that was pushing Flying J in Preble.
Can you spell CONFLICT OF INTEREST? Didn't they know that this
would come out sometime? What fools!
