Marilyn Stoker, Preble Town Justice, was elected to a three-year
term an the Board of Directors of the New York State Magistrates
Association at the association's 91st annual conference held
at the Nevele Grande Hotel in Ellenville, New York October
15-18.
Over 300 local judges from all sections of New York State
took part in the four-day event, which combines the SMA annual
meeting and conference with the advanced training courses,
which are required by New York State for all town and village
justices in the unified justice court system.
SMA works closely with the office of management support of
the NYS unified court system to assure the training enhances
the professional development of the judges and is relevant
to the practical situations encountered in the local courts.
There are 1409 town and village courts; Preble is 155th in
monies sent to the Office of The State Comptroller. Incidentally,
the town pays for Judge Stoker's expenses to the conference.
The Stoker's take care of Max's (Marilyn's husband) expenses.
