Brief Report of the 1/4/2001 ZBA Meeting

I wasn't there so I'm going from a phone conversation from someone who was there.

The issue was Paul Bunyon looking for a permit to have a larger sign that the code allows. From my early understanding, this is to help them by having a large sign on the I81 side of their building that could only be seen from I81. If that is the case I think we should support them in this effort for the following reasons:

  • They have a proven track record as a good company and good neighbor to Preble.
  • They pay their taxes.
  • They do not pollute.
  • They are a good company, exactly the type of company that Preble should support and encourage.

Besides even though our codebook does not allow larger signs, the ZBA blew that away when it allowed Flying J a HUGE concession with their many large signs. How could they now prevent any company from having large signs?

More information later
