6/21/2000 The arrow points to the section on Lake Road that flooded for the SECOND time in recent weeks. The flooding was caused by work done on the creek bed by Max Stoker in 1993 according to Dennis Dvorak. Also according to Dvorak he told Stoker at the Planning Board meeting (Dvorak was a PB member at that time.) that the creek would flood if Stoker 'channeled' the creek. It appears the lot is now owned by Song Mountain and work they did on the creek may have made it worse. According to neighbors neither Stoker or Song Mountain have offered any help with their flooding problem. This is little assurance to the town that Song Mountain will be responsible with their new well that was recently authorized by Dan O'Shea. More details to follow. UPDATE 6/23/2000: A check with the county reveals that the land is owned by the Cortland County IDA. It was 'turned over' to them when they gave Song Mountain the $250 Grand in tax breaks because they said they had 100 or so employees. Now they have 1 or 2. Guess the flooded neighbors will have to sue the IDA??? The year 1993 referred to above may actually be 1996, we're checking it out and will let you know. Developing...
