Two Town Board Members Resign... update
I just talked to Betty Pitman, town supervisor. She hasn’t received an official resignation from Tom Fox yet but I guess that’s just a formality. We also talked about how unusual this is. She couldn’t think of another occasion when two town board members resigned in the same year. Linette Currie resigned last month and it was announced at last months meeting. Betty says they have a candidate for that position and that will be voted on at this Monday nights meeting. No word on a replacement for Tom. Both Linette and Tom were first time town board members and showed great promise for the town. Tom was very interested in the water protection committee and was a member. I’m sure the board will find suitable replacements to serve out the rest of the year. Because both Linette and Tom were in the first half of a four-year term their replacements can only serve until the end of the year. All four-town board positions will be on the ballot. Two of them for their regular four year term and two to serve out the remaining two year terms. This is very unusual; the entire town is up for election.
If you ever wanted to serve on the town board, be it supervisor, town board member, clerk, justice, highway supervisor etc. This is the year! Everybody is up for it this time.
I’ve heard rumors that some people are reluctant to serve because they didn’t want to appear on this web site. If you look at the last year of this web site you will see that there is no reason to fear being here. The only people who appeared on this site were those who used their position of power to enrich themselves or hurt others. Those, like Linette and Tom never appeared on the site because they never did anything wrong. They did their job in service to others and they should be commended for it. In addition you will recall I gave high marks to Betty Pitman for doing a good job, why? Because she did a good job. There are those who used their position improperly and they have and will continue to appear here when ever I see them doing wrong.
Now is the time to start thinking of serving your town to make it a better place for everyone. I’ll have more details about how you can do that as time goes by.

What a wonderful day in Preble, almost warm and sunny. I forgot the pollen when I went outside to enjoy it. Oh well. I discovered a bug in the template for the blogs and I think I have it fixed. Some people were having trouble accessing the site. Let me know if you have any trouble. Of course if you are having trouble you won’t be reading this but…
Two Town Board Members Resign!
Linette Currie resigned for personal reasons and Tom Fox resigned because of a change in his job status. I'll have more details later.

WELCOME to the NEW PrebleNY.com web site!
As you can see I’ve made a lot of changes and I’m just getting started. I won’t make any rash promises but you can expect to see more new things in the days/weeks to come.
What’s new?
I’m now using blogs, short for weblog technology to maintain and update these pages. To you this means that there will be more frequent and plentiful postings. For me it means a great savings in time to make those posts and I can make them from anywhere. This may not mean much to you but it makes my life a lot easier. Posting’s that took 15 minutes the old way will now take just a click of the mouse. Even easier then sending an email. I have to admit I’ve gotten lazy over the last six months updating the reports of meetings and late breaking news. Now because it is so easy for me I will be posting much more often, perhaps several times a day.
Currently there are three blogs on the site. This one, the main page is for news about Preble exclusively. Town Board meeting reports and general news.
“About the Preble NY web site” has details about the site and news of changes to the site.
“Not Safe For Democrats” is a place for me to express my conservative republican views. As the name implies, democrats and liberals should avoid this page. It gives me a place to vent and to provide links and information to others of like thinking. I’ve wanted to do this for over a year.
Using this technology also means that I can add a new blog at will. If something comes up such as another truck stop I can create a blog for that in under an hour. I am really excited about the ease and flexibility this affords us.
What happened to the old site? It’s currently unavailable because I have to make some changes to incorporate it into the new format. The pages are still here; they are just not linked from the new site yet. They still show up in search engines and can be accessed that way. I have no date for re-linking it. It is to be called “Good Old Daze” and an unlinked name is holding a space for it on the left.
For more details see "About this site" on the right.
I hope you enjoy the NEW PrebleNY.com website.
