Good evening
OK so the thunderstorm kinda blew my "Another beautiful sunny day on Song Lake in Preble" comment but it's nice this evening. A Blue Heron just landed on the shore looking for dinner and the ducks are out too. Life is good.

Good afternoon
Another beautiful sunny day on Song Lake in Preble. This must be a record, 5 days in a row of nice weather. My grass is getting ready to be mowed so I guess I can safely take the snow blower off the tractor. Don't want to rush these things because I've noticed how patient the grass is. It will wait and wait for me to mow it, it just keeps growing, how considerate of it. I used to fertilize it to make it look really green. Some years ago my friend Greg asked me why I was doing that and I couldn't come up with a good answer so I stopped. The green is not as green as when it is fertilized but I just got used to it. A lot of little things used to bug me until my nephew Rich came up with the answer. He just advised me "Not to care" about those things. It might well be the best advise I've ever gotten, sure saves a lot of work and grief. If something bugs you all you have to do is learn... "Not to care" and poof the problem goes away.
Somebody else's problem
I'm a big fan of Douglas Adams who wrote a series of SciFi books some years ago. In one of them he talked about how the people of the future learned the secret of invisibility. All you needed to do to become invisible was become Somebody else's problem and you are invisible. If the previous advise doesn't work then just think of things as somebody else's problem.
To sum it up: Learn not to care about things you can't do anything about without a lot of work and ignore things that are somebody else's problem. The secret to a happy life.

I’m beat!
I got up at 7AM, drove out to Shoppingtown mall, stood in the parking lot for most of 6 hours except for the 3 and 1/2 minutes when I drove around in circles as fast as I could trying not to hit the pylons placed in my way. It’s called SOLO II and it’s put on by the Central NY Sports Car Club of America. Four times I drove around the course, each time lasting about 50 seconds, trying to do it faster than the 100 or so other drivers there. Can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday. We’re all going to do it again on May 30th at the cart track on route 20. I’ll be there. It’s a blast!
Fed Up Part Two
Or five depending on how you look at it. I decided to let Dish Network screw me over one more time. Saturday (26th) they came out yet again and installed the fifth 508 receiver. After a few hours it’s still working but I don’t have a lot of faith it will continue to do so. The tech admitted they have been having a lot of problems with the 508 and we both agreed it was junk. If this one fails I’ll just get DirectTv and a TiVo and then fight Dish for my money back. Having the tech admit they have problems with the 508 should make that easier.
In other news, there isn’t any other news. It’s spring… sort of, and I’ve been doing non town things, like washing and waxing my car. It’s new and the thrill will wear off soon and then I’ll be back to letting the rain wash it and the birds wax it.
On the duck side of things… (what duck side of things?) You know, ducks… quack quack. Every year a pair of ducks nest in the swamp… er make that wetlands just south of my lawn. This year there are TWO pairs! Hope my neighbor's cats doesn’t get the ducklings before they grow up. If the water in the lake stays high long enough they won’t be able too. It’s fun watching the mother and the ‘kids’ waddle down to the lake and like a train putt putt around the lake. Everyone on the lake is very protective of the various families of ducks around the lake. We all enjoy them very much. Maybe I can get a picture later on and post it. I’ll give it a try anyway.
