Dish Network 508 problem update.
In the Nobody cares but me department I think my problems with the Dish Network 508 PVR have been fixed... finally. It's only been 5 months, 5 different 508's, at least 5 different techs and a boatload of patience on my part. Piece by piece, little by little they replaced every part of the system, each time sure that they fixed it, each time they were wrong, until now. I hope. I have to admit that the service techs were very nice and the more experienced ones were very good at their job. The customer service people at the main office are terrible and must cost them a lot of business. I hope I'll have no more to say on this matter.

The Winchester Star-Overpass Is On Its Way Out
Drivers trying to cross Interstate 81 via the Rest Church Road bridge may feel a little safer this week. The Virginia Department of Transportation has opened half of the new six-lane bridge at Virginia’s northernmost interstate exit.
The truck traffic generated by the Flying J Travel Plaza had worn down the old bridge, which was built in the mid-1960s.
Council to weigh truck stop rezone Fairfield CA
Fairfield has tried to squeeze out the aging, tattered truck stop with its fueling station, store and wash area for years. The Ogden, Utah-based Flying J Co., which owns land along Pedrick Road, has expressed interest for a stop in Dixon, but has not submitted any proposals.
Good Noon
Saturday was a beautiful sunny day in Preble. I spent a lot of time outside and forgot that I no longer have shade in the form of hair on the top of my head. Scalp sunburn isn't fun, guess I'll have to dig out that old straw hat again. Today is also sunny and about 55 but my plan is to stay out of the sun.
For those who have been following my problems with Dish Network: Friday from 7 to 10:30 PM two techs from DN were here installing new cables and that seemed to fix it. However on Saturday the system failed completely. Just for the heck of it I climbed out on the roof and switched the cables around and hit the dish for good measure... It worked, for now. Obviously there is a problem at the dish itself and a tech is supposed to come out today around 4 to fix it. I decided not to switch to DirectTV because it would be difficult for my 98 year old mom to learn a new system. Everything works slow at 98. Enjoy this beautiful day.
