Are We Taxed Too Little, or Do We Spend Too Much?

TOWN TAXES TO BE RAISED - AGAIN!

It's not just Preble, it's ALL of the towns. Here is how it works. The legislature, who last year raised everyone's taxes 20% needs more money. Now they could cut spending but after all our legislature is controlled by Democrats and Democrats by nature don't cut spending. They aren't called "Tax and Spend" for nothing ya know. They could just 'scale back' to the levels of a few years ago but then they would have to fire that worthless brother-in-law that is too stupid to find a real job so they need to raise our taxes again. BUT they are cowards and think we are as stupid as that brother-in-law and won't catch on to their sneaky plan.

The Plan

They are going to redistribute the sales tax money to give more to the city and less to the towns. This will force the towns to raise their taxes to make up the difference. The legislature thinks we are too stupid to realize what they are doing, we're not.

What to do?

Democrats are known for "Tax and Spend" and Republicans are known for fiscal responsibility. It would be reasonable to assume that if we elected more Republicans this November and got control of the legislature this problem could be solved.

Or

You could just pay more taxes - and pay - and pay - and pay - and pay - etc.

Apple good, PC bad

Question: I've noticed an interesting trend over the last few years: You can sometimes tell who the "bad guys" are in a movie or TV show by what computer they use. For instance, on "24," all the bad guys used PCs while the good guys all used Macs. The same holds true for "Austin Powers," "Legally Blonde," etc. Why do you think Apple always gets the plumb roles? I'm of the opinion that Hollywood loves the underdog and has a close relationship with Apple computer, whereas PCs seem controlled by a megalomaniac in Seattle. Are there a lot more Mac zealots like me in Hollywood? Does Apple pour sponsorship money in big-budget studio movies?

Answer: Since many Windows machines look alike, Apple is one of the few manufacturers that can gain by product placement, which accounts for some of the Macs. It's true that the movie industry and creative types in general prefer the Mac. The novelist Tom Clancy sends e-mails with this signature line: "Never ask a man what computer he uses. If it's a Mac, he'll tell you. If it's not, why embarrass him?"
