Let's cut to the chase…

I'm getting sick of the nitrate run around BS. I've gotten information from several sources both pro and con about the dangers of nitrate and at what levels. Great, let's have a discussion about that. That would be productive. Unfortunately that is not what is happening. What is happening are lies and cover-ups. The so called Water Protection Committee is doing all it can to cover up the cause of the high nitrates. They tested around the trailer park and found nitrates were NOT coming from the septic systems at the park. Everyone agrees that nitrates come from fertilizer, manure or septic systems. If the latter is eliminated, as it is in this case, then the nitrates are coming from farming. There is no other choice! Yet this doesn't deter Amanda Barber from claiming that she does not know the source of the nitrates and she wants to study it more. This is clearly a lie and a cover up. She and her committee have lost all credibility with the community and for very good cause. If you claim to be the prime factor for studying a situation and you are found to continuously lie about it then no one will believe your findings. She lies! The committee lies! All those who participate in this charade are lying! There can be no other conclusion. I hate to use the word "lie" because it infers a deliberate intent to deceive, but what other word would best describe what has happened. Should I act like some bureaucrat and dance around the subject with big and meaningless words designed to confuse? No, I'll leave that to Amanda Barber, she does it well. I didn't go to the Water Protection Committee meeting, (and I despise using that erroneous phrase) because I know what they are doing (nothing and BS) so why waste my time. Barber made sure that I would be least likely to go by sending me the notice as late as possible, and apologizing for the lateness of it. Why bother going just to be lied to and deceived. I needn't waste my time for that. I say let's cut the lying and admit the cause and get on with the discussion about what levels are okay and how we are going to fix it. Short of that we are all hostage to lying deceiving government officials who do not and cannot tell the truth. Yeah, that'll work, that'll make the citizenry have faith and trust in their officials. If our elected officials do not step in and step in now and stop this lying then we are headed down a path to complete mistrust in all government and all government officials.

It's time for the county legislature to call Amanda Barber before them and see if she can talk her way out of doing nothing about this problem. Isn't that what we elected them to do?

Preble residents concerned over water | News 10 Now | 24 Hour Local News | TOP STORIES

"To try to use a scientific approach to determining what the source might be. But also to recognize that in one way or another, the ultimate goal is to have potable water," said Amanda Barber of the Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation group.
What oh what might that source be???

Amanda Barber is a farmer, almost everyone on that committee are farmers or are beholding to farmers. They meet at the Grange, they know the nitrates come from farming. And "the ultimate goal is to have potable water" is not true, the ultimate goal is to procrastinate and delay and cover up for themselves and their farmer friends. The result is pollution and poisoning of the water from a group who used to be considered the "salt of the earth". Nothing will be done, nothing is being done, the only question is... When are YOU going to get mad enough to stand up and say something? In my opinion that will only happen AFTER a baby dies or maybe two. But by then it will be far to late to do anything about it. Why? Because you decided you couldn't get involved, you just didn't have the time, you have so many important things to do, you are just so busy, you don't think it's that bad, you thought someone else was going to fix it. Don't you realize that in Cortland nothing gets done that would interfere with what farmers want to do, even if what they are doing is polluting the water. Sure, they should be ashamed of what they are doing, but they aren't. If they were they wouldn't do it would they? Sure Amanda Barber should be ashamed of what she is doing, but I bet her children drink pure water, I'm sure Amanda Barber isn't affected by nitrates, I'm sure Amanda Barber's family profits by what they are doing, I'm sure Amanda Barber wouldn't do anything that would hurt her farmer friends and I'm damn sure Amanda Barber isn't going to do a damn thing to correct this problem. But I'm also sure she'll work hard as hell to find more and more ways to study it. Meanwhile you drink polluted water and feed it to your children because you didn't have the guts to stand up and speak out.

Go ahead, prove me wrong, or take another sip... Sucker!

InfoWorld: Microsoft to trim Longhorn ambitions

SAN FRANCISCO - Microsoft Corp. is sacrificing some features it planned for Longhorn as it works to deliver its first beta of the next Windows client next year, a company spokesman said.
Longhorn is the next version of Windows that is supposed to bring it up to speed against the Mac's OSX operating system. Of course, by the time they get it done OSX will have evolved beyond what it is today. It will likely take Microsoft many years to catch up. Meanwhile Linux, a Unix based OS much like Mac OSX is coming on very strong. Windows will still dominate in volume even if it cannot compete in quality, as it has always been. There is nothing you can do on your PC that I can't do on my Mac. However, there is much I can do on my Mac that you cannot do on your PC. Including running all of your PC programs. Buy a Mac, you'll never regret it.

Missing Syracuse N.Y. woman found in storage unit

KENNEDY ET AL. AND THE SELF-FULFILLING VIETNAM PROPHECY:

Alicia Colon of the New York Sun reminded us that former North Vietnamese colonel Bui TIn, wrote a book about how 30 years ago, the Vietcong processed the anti-war news coming from the United States. He wrote that they although they knew they were losing the war after the Tet offensive, they felt emboldened to hold on. "Every day our leadership would listen to world news over the radio at 9 a.m. to follow the growth of the anti-war movement." He wrote that visits to Hanoi by Jane Fonda, Ramsey Clark and ministers gave them confidence that they should keep fighting even in the face of reverses. Irresponsible comments by Kennedy made for the purpose of scoring cheap political points at home are no doubt having the same bolstering effect among the terrorists in Iraq today. Ted Kennedy's reckless blame America mantra, and not the actions of our government, is responsible for recussitating Vietnam here. The pathetic thing is even after all we learned about how the enemy uses such comments against us, he hasn't learned a bleeping thing. He is not helping America. He is helping those who despise who we are, what we are, and our noble efforts on behalf of the majority of the Iraqi people.
